Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture long superconductive wire with high current density by making wire through spinning directly from component materials to produce ceramic superconductor by oxidation. CONSTITUTION:Component materials 3, which produce ceramic superconductor through heat treatment in oxidating atmosphere, are heated in a crucible 11, and the molten material is spun. The wire immediately after spinning is coated at its periphery with a metal not producing oxides at high temp. or an alloy therefrom 4 and glass 5 in melted condition one after another, followed by removal of the glass 5 at the outermost layer. A heat treatment is carried out at a temp. below the melting point of the metal or alloy 4 and in oxidating atmosphere, and thus a ceramic superconductor is accomplished. These processes permit production of minute perovskite crystals taking a long time, that should yield a wire with high current density.
