Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent scuffing of a seal in an idle piston by forming it in a hollow shape and fitting a small diameter piston to the idle piston, in the case of a master cylinder which mounts a main piston and the idle piston to be fitted to a cylinder hole arranging reset springs respectively before and after the idle piston. CONSTITUTION:A tandem master cylinder 1 is constituted respectively mounting a main piston 4 and an idle piston 5 to be slidably fitted to a cylinder hole 3 in a body 2. The master cylinder provides in the front end part of the main piston 4 the first reset spring 21 to be interposed between a spring receiver 20, provided through a stopper rod 18, and the main piston 4 and the second reset spring 29 to be interposed between the front part of the idle piston 5 and a cylinder front end wall 10. Here forming a small bore cylinder 33 in the idle piston 5, a small diameter piston 34, partitioning the first and second pressure fluid chambers 9, 11, is mounted to be fitted into the small bore cylinder 33. While a rod member 40, restricting the most advancing position of the small diameter piston 34 for the idle piston 5, is provided between the small diameter piston 34 and the cylinder front end wall 10.
