Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress surge current, by employing a hybrid bridge and making control of any one phase when power source is thrown in. CONSTITUTION:A multiphase AC rectifier circuit comprises a synchronous signal detection circuit 2 for outputting a rectangular signal synchronized with the input to a polyphase AC power source 1, a semiconductor element 5 for controlling the firing angle, a control circuit for making phase control of only one set when power source is thrown in while making control of all phases under a steady state, a diode 4 constituting a hybrid bridge together with the semiconductor element 5 and a smoothing capacitor 6. Only one phase of multiphase AC is operated regardless of the order of phase of power source in order to suppress surge current, and the semiconductor 5 is turned OFF upon occurrence of abnormality. The semiconductor element 5 for controlling all firing angles is turned ON after the voltage of the smoothing capacitor 6 has increased sufficiently.
