Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate connecting operation by allowing a catching member to intrude into part of the outer peripheral surface of an optical fiber cable standing in a tubular passage when inserted into a branch passage from an opening and thus stopping lengthwise movement. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber cable 26 is machined to that its end surface 35 appears flatly, and its end part is inserted lengthwise into a tubular passage 27. While the end surface 25 of the optical fiber cable 26 and a light transmission and reception surface 21 are held in an abutting state, the catching member 29 is inserted into the branch passage 33 and reaches a position shown by a broken line, where leg parts 30 and 31 of the catching member 29 protrude in the tubular passage 27. The leg parts 30 and 31 of the catching member 29 intrude into part of the outer peripheral surface of the coating 36 of the optical fiber cable 26. The catching member 29 can not move lengthwise in the tubular passage 27 so the lengthwise movement of the optical fiber cable 26 is stopped. Consequently, the connecting operation is facilitated.
