Abstract
PURPOSE:To erase and record information in a state being similar to overwrite by providing as one body an erasing head and a recording head by placing a magneto- optical disk between them, erasing the information by the erasing head, and thereafter, immediately recording the information by the recording head. CONSTITUTION:The titled method uses a magneto-optical disk 7 of a clad type, in which layers are formed successively such as a ground film 3, a recording film 4 and a second transparent substrate 6 on a first transparent substrate 1 of a disk shape. Also, this method uses a magneto-optical head 18 in which a pair of erasing heads 8 in which a first magnet 10 for applying a magnetic field to a recording film 4 and a first laser light source for irradiating this recording film 4 are opposed, and a pair of recording heads 9 in which a second magnet 13 for applying a magnetic field to the recording film 4 and a second laser light source 15 for irradiating the recording film 4 are opposed are formed as one body alternately and adjacently, respectively. In such a state, by inserting the magneto-optical disk 7 between two pairs of magnets 10, 13 for constituting the magneto-optical head 18 and the laser light source 12, and rotating it, the information is erased and recorded continuously. In such a way, the information can be erased and recorded continuously in a state being similar to overwrite.
