Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable more natural expression of density gradation and more precise control of a reflection density to be performed and to enable a recording image of high quality to be obtained, by a method wherein a discharge quantity of color ink is so corrected that each color which has been doubly printed may have specific reflection density under a doubly printed state. CONSTITUTION:A masking circuit 5 performs masking of R, G, B signals which have been inputted. An ink density selection circuit 6 selects density of the ink which performs recording based on each reflection density signal of DYO, DMO, DCO from the masking circuit 5. A density to discharge quantity conversion circuit 7 selects an ink discharge quantity of each color from the ink density selection circuit 6 according to the reflection density signal DY, DM, DC of each color. A correction circuit 8 performs correction based on a correction formula according to the reflection density signal of each color from the ink density selection circuit 6 and an ink discharge quantity signal of each color from the density to discharge quantity conversion circuit 7. Ink is discharged to a recording head according to the reflection density signal DY', DM', DC' of each corrected color, and a recording image of high quality is obtained.
