Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a printed image by watching the level of a color ingredient printing signal which drives plural ink jet heads with a detection circuit, and reducing the amount of double printing ink via a delay circuit with the control of a gate circuit. CONSTITUTION:Level detection circuit 6 comprises adder 61 which adds level value of digital three-color signal C, M, Y, D/A converter 62, variable resistor 63 which sets level, and analog comparator 64. If the level of color ingredient printing signal C, M, Y is high, the added value thereof is large, hence the output B of the converter 62 is large, and larger than the set value A of the resistor 63. Thus, the output of the comparator 64 becomes low level such that AND 71 and 73 of gate circuit 7 are opened while 72 and 74 are closed. The signals C, M, Y are given the delay time by delay circuits 53, 51, 54 in order to drive ink jet heads 31-33. Accordingly, printing of cyan dot C and of yellow dot is done with the discrepancies of ta time of scanning distance before and after magenta dot M as the center, hence the area of double record becomes small.
