Abstract
PURPOSE:To continually maintain the cutting quality of a grinding surface to a fixed level so as to enable a cutting edge to be self-generated effectively utilizing grinding fluid and cooling water by forming a grinding wheel from an abrasive grain, binding agent and a collapsing agent and filling the inside of a gas cavity, formed in the composition of the grinding wheel, with a water repellent substance of low melting point. CONSTITUTION:An abrasive grain, binding agent and a collapsing agent (for instance, starch) are sufficiently mixed, being molded and solidified into a fixed shape. This molded object is immersed in a paraffin bath, and filling the molded object in its gas cavity with paraffin (one kind of water repellent substance with low melting point), a desired grinding wheel is obtained. This paraffin coats the internal surface of the gas cavity preventing grinding fluid and cooling water from infiltrating into composition of the abrasive grain, but the paraffin melts or exhaustless by resistance heat in the time of grinding. As the result, this collapsing agent, each time it appears in a grinding surface, contains water collapsing and promoting the falling off of the blunting abrasive grain and binding agent. That is, generating a new cutting edge to appear in the grinding surface despite a change of grinding resistance, the grinding surface continually maintains its cutting quality to a fixed level.
