Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable continuation of processing even if one ROM is faulty, by storing the same microprogram in two ROMs and selectively using contents of normal one of these ROMs to execute a CPU. CONSTITUTION:A data processing device consists of a CPU 11, two ROMS 12 and 13, a RAM 14, and a load control part 15. The same microprogram is stored in ROMs 12 and 13, and the load control part 15 selects either the ROM 12 and 13 to load the stored microprogram to the RAM 14. The CPU 11 successively reads out the microprogram loaded to the RAM 14 to perform a prescribed processing. If trouble occurs in a data processing system 1, a start command is issued from a system controller 3 to a stand-by data processing system 2, and the control part 3 switches current and stand-by processing systems to each other.
