Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a long size superconductive wire of an extensively high critical temperature by applying a heat treatment to a superconductor to sinter and fix the superconductor on the surface of a core wire, and then forming a metal coverage layer at the outer periphery of the superconductor. CONSTITUTION:The outer periphery of a core wire B is covered with an oxide system superconductor E, and a heat treatment is applied to the superconductor by soaking the core wire B in a solution bath C. Then the core wire B is pulled out of the solution bath C, and the molten metal attached to the outer periphery of the superconductor E is cooled and solidified to form a metal coverage layer F on the periphery. As the core wire above-mentioned, a silver wire is used, for example, and as the metal to make the solution bath C, silver is used, to form a superconductive wire of Y-Ba-Cu-O system. The metal coverage layer F above-mentioned secures the strength of a superconductive wire D, and at the same time, it acts as a conductor of current to prevent various accidents resulting from a cutting-off of the current, when the condition is transferred from the superconductive condition to a normal conductive condition owing to some reason during the operation in the superconductive condition, or when the superconductor E is cut off.
