Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the increase in transmission loss at a low temp. even if a colored layer is formed on an optical fiber having a soft coating layer consisting of a UV curing type resin and the hard coating layer by providing a specific Young's modulus at a specific temp. to the hard coating layer of said optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The soft coating layer 2 consisting of the UV curing type resin is formed around the optical fiber 1 made of quartz. The hard coating layer 3 having >= 150kg/mm<2> Young's modulus at -40 deg.C is then formed around the same and the colored layer 4 and the layer 3 to form the optical fiber. The generation of the waving of the fiber by low-temp. shrinkage is obviated by the coating layer 3 having the large Young's modulus and the increase in the transmission loss is prevented according to this constitution.
