Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately evaluate the amount of inclusion by projecting an electron beam having specified energy to a sample in the dissolving chamber of a hearth provided in a vacuum vessel. CONSTITUTION:A circular type hearth 3 made of Cu and cooled with water is provided in a vacuum vessel 1. An annular groove is provided on the top surface of the hearth 3 and also partition walls 4 are fitted. The central shaft of the hearth 3 is joined to a motor 6 set outside the vacuum vessel 1 via gears 5, and the hearth 3 is rotated and stopped by the motor 6. An electron beam generator 7 is provided adjacently to the hearth 3. Metallic samples 13 in the dissolving chamber are dissolved by accurately radiating an electron beam 12 thereto with lines 11 of magnetic force of a magnet 10. Thus, the amount of inclusion can be efficiently quantitatively determined.
