Abstract
PURPOSE:To separate various specified gases by supplying a gaseous mixture to one side of the ion-exchange membrane consisting of a fluorine-contg. polymer having a fixed content of ion-exchange group consisting of a weak acid or its salt, and separating the specified gas from the other side. CONSTITUTION:The fluorine-contg. polymer having an ion-exchange group consisting of a weak acid or its salt is obtained by copolymerizing the polymerizable fluorine compd. shown by the formula [X is F and CF3, Y and Y' are F and a 1-10C polymerizable group, (l) is 0-3, (m) is 0-1, (n) is 0-12, and A is a functional group more strongly acidic than the sulfonic group] and the fluorinated olefin shown by the formula CF2=CZZ' (Z and Z' are F, Cl, H, and CF3). The polymer is formed into membrane having the ion-exchange capacity of 0.3-2.4 milliequivalent/gram of dry resin. The obtained ion-exchange membrane can be used for separating CO2 and H2S from natural gas.
