Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform crushing of grains under test accurately, by forming irregular surfaces on the outer surfaces of electrode rolls, and forming deep grooves along the direction of the rotary axes of the rolls on the outer surfaces. CONSTITUTION:During the measuring operation of moisture, a grain under test from a one-grain feeding device 20 reaches an upper space, which is formed with a pair of electrode rolls 21 and 21. Irregularities are formed on the surfaces of the rolls 21 and 21 so that engagement with the grain under test is excellent. The rolls 21 and 21 are rotated at the different circumferential speeds, and the grain under test is crushed. Thus an electric resistance value is obtained. When the long grain under test having a large diameter is supplied on the rolls 21 and 21, the grain is not engaged with only such irregularities and tend to remain in the V space formed with both rolls 21 and 21. However, deep grooves are formed on the surfaces. The grain under test in the horizontally fallen-down state is liable to be engaged with the acute parts of the deep grooves on the side of the outer surfaces of the rolls 21. The grain is turned with the rotation of the roll 21 and crushed between the roll and the other roll 21.
