Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the precision in fuel injection control by controlling the voltage applied onto a piezoelectric element according to the temperature of the piezoelectric element, in the constitution in which fuel injection is controlled by utilizing the extension and contraction of the piezoelectric element. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection valve 8 is equipped with a needle pressurizing chamber 31 into which fuel is supplied through a fuel chamber 29 and a fuel passage 32 from a fuel inflow port 24, and said pressurizing chamber 31 is formed on the periphery of the pressure receiving surface 30 of a needle 28 which closes a nozzle hole 22. When a piezoelectric element 42 of a driving device 40 is extended by applying a voltage onto said element 42. a hydraulic piston 38 is moved leftward, and a control rod 26 is raised with the needle 25 by pressurizing the fluid in a control rod pressurizing chamber 36, and a nozzle 25 is opened, and fuel injection is carried out. In this case, a temperature sensor 64 is installed onto the piezoelectric element 42, and the voltage applied onto the pertinent piezoelectric element 42 is controlled by a control means on the basis of the output signal of the temperature sensor 64. Larger than a judgement value and the engine revolution speed is over a prescribed value.
