Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable instantaneous starting by applying a high voltage pulse without pre-heating a filament by utilizing a superconductor which shows superconductive condition at the room temperature and becomes normal condition at a magnetic field more than the critical magnetic field. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 6 is closed, a superconductor 8 which is superconductive condition at the normal temperature and zero in resistance and a coil 9 connected parallel with it are applied with current. And when the magnetic field generated by the coil 9 becomes more than the critical magnetic field of the superconductor 8, the superconductor 8 becomes the normal condition and at that moment, a high voltage pulse is generated and applied to an electrode 7. Hereby, a fluorescent lamp can be started instantaneously without using a starting device to preheat a filament.
