If the balance weight 6 is derailed and detection rollers 15a, 1b are uncoupled from a guide rail 9, the rope gripping mechanisms 14a, 14b grip the detection rope 10 zigzag and displace the rope 10 upward or downward, and this is detected by means of a detection switch 18. Thus, vibrations working on the gripping mechanisms of the wire rope can be reduced, and derailment can be surely detected.
