Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve a display contrast by dividing display electrodes of a flat plate display panel to at least 4i2 electrodes and bringing dielectric members into contact respectively with the divided ends of the display electrodes of the divided components. CONSTITUTION:The (a) side X transparent electrodes 11a1-11ak and the (b) side X transparent electrodes 11b1-11bk are in contact with other via the dielectric members 11c1-11ck. The both electrode groups are therefore insulated of DC. Voltage for display can be impressed from drivers for X respectively independently to the (a) side X transparent electrodes 11a1-11ak and the (b) side X transparent electrodes 11b1-11bk. The (a) side X transparent electrodes 11a1-11ak and the (b) side X transparent electrodes 11b1-11bk can, therefore, make respectively separate displays at the same time. The impedances that the capacitor inserted between the (a) side X transparent electrode 11a and the (b) side X transparent electrode 11b possesses has the sufficiently low value at the frequency of the AC to generate AC magnetic fluxes for the purpose of position detection. The selection time per piece of the transparent electrodes is thereby extended and the display contrast is improved.
