Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a layer built capacitor adapted such that even if capacitor function is lost in any short-circuited unit capacity layer, other normal layers can keep such function, by connecting capacity electrodes formed on dielectric layers with each other through extracting electrodes of a Iow-melting metal so that every unit layer has fusing function. CONSTITUTION:In a layer built ceramic capacitor 10, green sheets 16 having a capacity electrode 17 and a spacer 18 and green sheets 16 having a capacity electrode 19 and an extracting electrode 20 are laid one upon another such that the spacers 18 and the extracting electrodes 20 are oriented in the opposite directions alternately. The spacers 18 between the laminated green sheets 16 are burnt by the subsequent calcination process and voids are defined there. Extracting electrodes 22 are formed of a low-melting metal in these voids. lf adjacent capacity electrodes 17 and 19 are short-circuited to conduct current therebetween for example due to deterioration of a dielectric layer interposed between the capacity electrodes 17 and 19, the narrowed parts of the extracting electrodes 22 are fused by Joule heat. The fused metal is contracted by surface tension, whereby the capacity electrode 17 is disconnected from the extracting electrode 22.
