Abstract
PURPOSE:To effectly remove strain at the time of forging and to carry out the improvement of dimensional accuracy and the stabilization of quality, by forming titanium or titanium alloy by means of preforming and finish forging and then applying stress relief coining while holding the above at a specific high temp. CONSTITUTION:After the stages of preforming and finish forging for forming titanium or titanium alloy, a stock is subjected to stress relief coining in a state held at a temp. between 700 deg.C and the beta-transformation point. At the above temp., titanium or titanium alloy is sufficiently softened and has superior elongation. Accordingly, by means of coining work under the above conditions, accuracy can be improved by reducing the amount of spring back and also quality can be stabilized by preventing stock cracking.
