Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the temperature reduction at the end section of a slab and obtain the uniform induction heating of the slab by lowering a fire-resistant heat insulating material nearly to the fixed position from the slab end when the length of the slab material is changed. CONSTITUTION:Plate-shaped fire-resistant heat insulating materials 7 liftable above a heating coil 1 are fitted to support shafts 8 at positions corresponding to both end sections of the longest side of a slab material 2, and the support shafts 8 are slid through bearings 9. When the length of the slab material 2 in the longest direction becomes short, the fire-resistant heat insulating material 7 is lowered and inserted into the heating coil 1 so that the distance between the slab material end section 2a and the heat insulating material is not changed much, and the heat radiation from the slab material end section 2a is decreased. The temperature reduction of the slab material end section is thereby prevented.
