Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance airtightness at the time of coupling with a liquid tank by inserting a refrigerant tube, while contracting, into an opening made in the cover of a tubular casing and then enlarging and press jointing the tube thereafter forming a bead on the press jointed tube. CONSTITUTION: A refrigerant tube 4a is contracted by pressing a first jig 23 having inside diameter substantially equal to that at a part 13 to be contracted and having an inner tubular recess 22 against the part 13 subjected to swaging from the insertion side end 11 to a part 21. A second columnar jig having spherical forward end is then pressed in the axial direction in order to enlarge the tube and a columnar part 24 having spherical forward end is pressed in the axial direction along with a third jig 29 having a peripheral part 28 and spaced apart by a specified distance, to form a large bead 26. On the other hand, a small bead 27 is formed using a jig having forward end bonded with a small ball. When a seal ring 15 is fixed to the small bead 27 and an end plate 5 is fixed by bolts, the refrigerant tube 4a can be jointed to a liquid tank 1 with high airtightness.
