Abstract

PURPOSE:To simplify the control of rigidity for improving shock absorbing performance by, in an aluminum light alloy frame member having a closed cross section structure extending in a longitudinal direction of a car body, forming plural weld beads on the periphery of the frame member at fixed intervals. CONSTITUTION:Front and rear side frames 20A, 20B of an automobile 100 are composed of aluminum light alloy frame members 2 whose both ends in its longitudinal direction of a car body are joined to front and rear cross members 3, 4 respectively. The front end part 2A of the frame member 2 on the side of its joined part to the front cross member 3 is formed with plural weld beads 4 on its periphery at fixed longitudinal intervals. In addition to that, each of four corners of the frame member 2 having the weld beads on its periphery is formed with a notch hole 5 on every other weld bead. A weld bead forming part can therefore function as a low rigid part to make the buckling deformation of the low rigid part successively absorb a shock load due to car collision.
