Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a carbon fiber reinforced composite enhanced in strength, rigidity and heat resistance, by hydrating a reinforcing material having a specific carbon fiber compounded therewith and an inorg. material in a hydraulic inorg. fine powder slurry in a laminated state to integrate both of them. CONSTITUTION:A carbon fiber reinforced composite is obtained by hydrating reinforcing materials 1, 4, each of which is composed of a continuous carbon fiber having tensile modulus of elasticity of 15X10<3>kgf/mm<2> or more and a hydraulic inorg. fine powder having an average particle size equal to or less than that of the carbon fiber and containing a component having a particle size larger than the diameter of the carbon fiber in an amount of 30% by vol. of the total quantity or less, and an inorg. material 2 having specific gravity of 0.2-2.3 in a laminated state to integrate both of them. At this time, by hydrating and integrating the reinforcing materials 1, 4 and the inorg. material 2 after laminating them in such a state that the hydraulic inorg. components contained in them are not yet solidified, the carbon fiber reinforced composite excellent in dynamical and thermal characteristics is obtained.
