Abstract

CONSTITUTION:In forming a lens, a space between upper and lower dies 2 and 3 and upper and lower punches 6 and 7 is set wide, into which a material 10 to be processed is inserted. Then, the space between the upper and lower dies 2 and 3 is narrowed, and the material 10 to be processed is enclosed and retained through packings 11 and 12. Then, a vacuum pump is actuated, and respective spaces 8, 9, 17-20 are vacuumized to put the upper and lower punches 6 and 7 close to the material 10 to be processed. Then, the upper and lower punches 6 and 7 are vibrated by actuating respective vibrators 27 and 28, and the material 10 to be processed is pressed through pressing devices 29 and 30. The material 10 to be processed is softened by shear heat generated by said vibration and pressing, and a desired lens is formed on the forming surfaces 6a and 7a of respective punches 6 and 7.
