Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the volume of a waste regenerating liquid, by performing the regeneration of a used anion exchange resin using a volatile or combustible strong base agent and evaporating or burning the generated waste regeneration liquid. CONSTITUTION:A glass column is packed with an anion exchange resin up to a predetermined height and, when an aqueouse caustic soda solution is allowed to flow through the cylinder to regenerate said resin, a chlorine ion is fixed. A chemical agent is allowed to flow through the cylinder packed with the chlorine ion fixed resin to regenerate the resin. As the chemical agent to be used, there is a volatile or combustible quaternary ammonium compound and, for example, choline or tetramethylammonium hydroxide is designated. After the chemical agent is allowed to flow, the resin is washed with distilled water. Next, hydrochloric acid is allowed to flow and distilled water is further allowed to flow to perform ion exchange and washing.
