Abstract
PURPOSE:To manufacture a heat generating tube by making an extended portion of a coil formed by extending the front end of the coil project out of a front end hole of a tube, melting said front end to form a ball, making the molten ball to be contained in a front end bottom wall of the molten tube, and securely joining the front end of the coil and the bottom wall of the tube together. CONSTITUTION:The front end portion 32 of a heat generating coil 3 is tapered with the winding diameter thereof gradually decreasing and with the further front end thereof forming a straight line-shaped extended portion. The coil 3 is connected to a front end 21 of a center electrode 2 either by winding or welding the rear end 31 of the coil 3 to the front end 21. The center electrode 2 of the coil 3 is inserted from the rear end opening of the tube 1 to make the extended portion 33 of the coil 3 project out of a front end hole 12 of the tube 1. When the front end portion of the tube 1 is heated with a torch of gas shield welding, the extended portion 33 of the coil is melted and forms a ball 35 due to surface tension. Then the edge portion of the front end hole 12 melts and becomes a front end bottom wall 14. Here, the ball 35 is embedded in the wall 14 and as a result, poor connection between the coil end 32 and the tube 1 is completely eliminated.
