Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a dense slag molded body having high strength without generating yellow turbid water by adding a material contg. boron to molten slag, pouring the molten slag in a mold and carrying out slow cooling. CONSTITUTION:B2O3 (-contg. material) obtd. by sintering or vitrifying a material contg. boron as an essential component by heat treatment is added to molten slag produced as a by-product during the manufacture of pig iron, stainless steel, ferroalloy or other metal by 0.1wt.% (expressed in terms of B2O3). The molten slag is then poured in a refractory mold of a desired shape and solidified by slow cooling. The molded slag is released from the mold to obtain a product.
