Abstract
PURPOSE:To generate no contamination problem at the time of preservation and to obtain a sharp image having sufficient density by imparting heat energy for an extremely short time at the time of transfer, by using an ionomer ionically crosslinked by a metal as the resin binder of the thermal transfer layer formed to a substrate sheet in forming a thermal transfer sheet. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer layer containing a dye transferred to a sheet to be thermally transferred by heating is laminated to a substrate sheet. The binder component of the thermal transfer layer is formed of an ionomer resin ionically crosslinked by a metal. When the ionomer resin is used as the binder of the thermal transfer layer, the bonding of a metal crosslinking part becomes extremely weak at the time of short-time printing at high temp. and an apparent MW becomes small and the concn. of the dye in a receiving layer becomes high and sensitivity is substantially enhanced. The bonding of the metal ionically crosslinked part becomes strong at the time of preservation at medium-low temp. and it is prevented that the dye is transferred to the back surface of the adjacent thermal transfer sheet to contaminate said back face.
