Abstract

PURPOSE:To converge ultrasonic beam to an objective position and to prevent the lowering of resolving power, by providing an acoustic lens to the ultrasonic wave propagating medium interposed between the piezoelectric vibrator of an ultrasonic probe main body and an object to be examined. CONSTITUTION:In an ultrasonic probe main body 1, a piezoelectric vibrator array 3 for transmitting and receiving an ultrasonic wave is provided to the front side part of a case 2 and an acoustic matching layer 4 for efficiently transmitting an ultrasonic wave is provided to the front surface of said piezoelectric vibrator array 3 and an acoustic lens 5 for converging the ultrasonic wave if necessary is provided to the front surface of the acoustic matching layer 4 and a lead wire 6 is connected to the piezoelectric vibrator array 3. An acoustic lens 8 is provided to the rear side part of the ultrasonic wave propagating body 7 provided on the front surface side of the acoustic lens 5 of this ultrasonic probe main body 1 so as to be brought into contact with the acoustic lens 5 and the ultrasonic wave propagating body 7 is brought into contact with an object 9 to be examined.
