Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the vibration-resistivity of a battery by providing bended portions or tapered portions in lower portions of both side walls of a battery jar in the width direction of the electrode plate so as to contact to the electrode plate group. CONSTITUTION:Lower portions of both side walls of a battery jar 1 in the width direction of the electrode plate are bended toward inside of the cell room of the jar, and the inside width W0 of the bended portion is made equal to or slightly less than the width W1 of the electrode plate so as to hold the electrode group 3. Thus the gap 4' between the electrode and the side wall is eliminated at the bended portion 7 on the lower side wall of the jar 1, so that the generation of disturbances of the electrode plate group 3 due to the vibration of the battery in the width direction of the electrode plate can be prevented. And also when a tapered portion 8 is provided on the side wall to contact to and hold the electrode plate group 3, the relation W1<=W0 can be satisfied.
