Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a thin film for information recording which has favorable recording and reproduction characteristics, high sensitivity and favorable stability, by causing the thin film for information recording to have an average composition in a film thickness direction of the general formula AXBYCZGealphaTebetaDgamma. Tbp DT. CONSTITUTION:A thin film for information recording is made to have an average composition in the film thickness direction of the general formula AXBYCZGealphaTebetaDgamma, wherein X-Z and alpha-beta satisfy the relationships of O<=X<=30, 0<=Y<=30, 0<=Z<=65, 0<=alpha<=65, 10<=Z+alpha+gamma<=70, 10<=beta<=70, and 0<=gamma<=65; D is at least one of In and Ga: C is at least one of Sb, Sn, As, Pb, Bi, Zn, Ca, Si and Al ; B is at least one of Tl, a halogen such as I, and an alkali metal such as Na; and A is an element other than the elements represented by B, C end D and Ge, Te. This thin film has a high crystallization rate, is highly absorptive for laser light, and has a high reproduction signal intensity.
