Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the appearance of a plastic molded product with no top coat by applying paint for a base coat to the product and successively forming an Ni or Cr film and a metal oxide film by sputtering on the surface of the resulting base coat. CONSTITUTION:Paint for a base coat is applied to a plastic molded product and dried. Ni (alloy) or Cr (alloy) is sputtered to form a film of about 100-1,000Angstrom thickness on the surface of the resulting base coat and a film of 500-4,000Angstrom thickness is further formed by sputtering a metal oxide to form a metallic appearance. Thus, the appearance of the product is improved without requiring a top coat and friction and weather resistance are provided.
