Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily sterilize high resistant microbes including bacterial spores, by applying a high voltage pulse to a liquid while the temp. of the liquid is held to high temp. of a specific value or more. CONSTITUTION:A liquid 7 to be treated of a room temp. level is supplied to a heat exchange means 10 at first and heat-exchanged with a treated liquid of high temp. to be raised in its temp. to a certain degree. Next, the liquid 7 to be treated is supplied to a heating means 11 to be raised in its temp. if necessary and supplied to an electrode part through a supply line 8. Herein, a high voltage pulse is applied to the liquid 7 to be treated under a set temp. condition and the treated liquid is supplied to the heat exchange means 10 through a withdrawl line 9 and heat-exchanged with the liquid 7 to be treated in a non-contact state while the treated liquid lowered in temp. is supplied to a post-stage process to fill a container. The temp. set value at the time of the application of the high voltage pulse is appropriately selected according to bacteria to be sterilized but it is desirable to set said value to at least 50 deg.C, pref., 70 deg.C or more. Said value may be set to 100 deg.C or more, for example, 120-140 deg.C but, since a pressure resistant apparatus is required and cost is raised, it is not necessarily required to set the temp. to 100 deg.C or more.
