Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the clogging of a hollow yarn membrane filter used for removing the impurities in the primary cooling water of an atomic power plant and to extend the life of the membrane with a device for cleaning said filter by injecting an oxide material into the inflow system of the filter. CONSTITUTION:The hollow yarn membrane filter 8 is constituted of a module 9 formed by bundling hollow yarn membranes and is fixed with an outlet hole 11 of the module 9 to an upper flange 10. Condensate 12 flows into the filter 8 from the lower part thereof, permeates the membranes from the outside and flows out of the upper part as permeated water 13. The soluble Fe ions in the inflow condensate 12 in the filter 8 are detected by a detector 14 and a prescribed volume of a hydrogen peroxide soln. is injected from a hydrogen peroxide soln. tank 16 by a pump 17 thereto via a controller 15. The hydrogen peroxide forms ferric hydroxide by reacting with the Fe<2+> ions in an inflow pipe 18 and, therefore, the ferric hydroxide is captured by the filter 8. The clogging of the filter by the Fe ions and the increase of the differential pressure by the clogging are thereby prevented.
