Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled admixture providing a cement set material having excellent water penetration resistance, impact resistance and wear resistance, consisting of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer emulsion prepared by subjecting ethylene and vinyl acetate to emulsion polymerization in the presence of a water-soluble high polymer and a specific nonionic surface active agent. CONSTITUTION:Ethylene and vinyl acetate are subjected to emulsion polymerization in the presence of 0.1-1wt.% (based on vinyl acetate and hereinafter the same) water-soluble high polymer comprising a PVA having 100-2,000 average polymerization degree and 80-99mol.% average saponification degree or hydroxyethyl cellulose and >=2wt.% nonionic surface active agent shown by formula I or formula II (R is 6-18C alkyl or n is 5-50) having 14-18 HLB to give ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer emulsion having 0.2-0.5mu average particle diameter and 10-25wt.% ethylene content. The emulsion is optionally a glycol, anti-foaming agent, filler, thickening agent and a water reducing agent for water to give the titled admixture.
