Abstract

PURPOSE:To accelerate the return speed of an ink column when the rising ink column returns to a recording sheet side based on the synergic action of a heat signal and an electrostatic field in accordance with image information by applying a prearranged auxiliary heat signal to each ink part at an intermediate point of time of each application timing for a heat signal in compliance with image information. CONSTITUTION:An ink jet recording device is composed of a main body of ink jet head 1, a means 4 to apply a heat signal to ink 3 stored in an ink ejection part 2a of a slit-like ink chamber 2 by unit of pixel density, a means 5 to apply an auxiliary heat signal to ink 3 in the ink discharge part 2a by unit of pixel density at an intermediate point of time of each application timing for a heat signal of a heat signal application means 4, and a means 6 to allow formation of a prearranged electrostatic field between the surface of ink 3 and recording sheet 7, synchronously with an application timing for the heat signal of the heat signal application means 4. The heat signal application means 4 and the auxiliary heat signal application means 5 are composed of a heat generating element array adjusted to pixel density and a control circuit 30 which thermally drives the array by subdividing it into four blocks and also thermally drives said array at auxiliary heating timing.
