PURPOSE:To eliminate variance in measurement due to individual difference by arranging plural circular light sensors on a television display screen and obtaining a raster position from an output signal of the light sensor by calculation thereby measuring highly accurate measurement in comparison with visual observation. CONSTITUTION:For example, 15 sets of light sensors 1 are arranged to a transmission type screen 2 of a projection type color television receiver. A test signal from a test signal generating circuit 9 is fed to a receiver and, a measured pattern including a border formed by a brightness difference in a detection area of the sensor 1, the measured pattern inverted with P1, P3 in the relation of brightness difference and the measured pattern without border formed by the brightness difference are generated. The deviation of the center of the light sensor 1 and the center line of the measured pattern is calculated from the difference from black and white level areas in the detection area and the area of the white level only, the calculated registration adjusting component is fed to a motor controller 12 to drive an adjusting variable resistor 15 via a drive circuit 13 and a pulse motor 14.
