Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled sintered body contg. a small amt. of residual carbon and having high density, superior surface smoothness and deflective strength at a low cost by dewaxing a molded body of powder based on nonoxide ceramics in an atmosphere contg. air and by sintering the dewaxed molded body. CONSTITUTION:A molded body obtd. by molding a powdery starting material mixture based on nonoxide ceramics such as Si3N4 and contg. Y2O3 or Al2O3 as a sintering assistant is dewaxing at <=700 deg.C in the air or in an atmosphere contg. >=50vol.% air. The dewaxed molded body is sintered at 1,750 deg.C for about 2hr in a nitrogen atmosphere.
