Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the generating of a power fluctuation due to the return light of a laser by arranging in the sequence a polarizing beam splitter, a half mirror and a 1/4 wavelength plate on the light path to arrive from a light source to an magneto- optical recording carrier. CONSTITUTION:A light to generate the change of a phase in accordance with the direction of a magnetization passes through a 1/4 wavelength plate 1 again and thus, the phase difference of the circular polarization is converted to the polarization surface rotation of a linear polarization. Thereafter, the light is divided by a half mirror 13, a part is guided to a polarization beam splitter 12 and others are guided to the optical path separated from the outgoing path. The light separated from the outgoing path converts the polarization surface rotation to the strong and weak signal of light and is detected by the detector, through an analyzer in the same way as the detection of a conventional magneto-optical signal.
