Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the replacing frequency of recording media by operator and to facilitate the storage and retrieval of the recording media by moving a tape type optical recording medium wound in a roll shape to successively move its recording positions and writing the recording information by a laser beam. CONSTITUTION: A drive mechanism moves an optical recording medium 10 of a tape type that is wound in a roll shape to successively move the recording positions of the medium 10 and decides a recording position. A laser recording unit 13 irradiates the medium 10 that is positioned by the drive mechanism with laser beam, and the information is recorded on the medium 10. The medium 10 can record the information with a high density and therefore, its recording capacity is increased when the information are successively recorded on an medium 10 of a tape type. Thus, the information can be recorded on a single recording medium and therefore, the storage and management of the recording medium can be facilitated.
