Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable accurate measurement of density even for sample spots bent presenting a smiling phenomenon, by performing a zigzag scanning of the sample spots at the right angle to the development thereof to detect a peak for each scanning stroke. CONSTITUTION:A fine luminous flux scanned in zigzag in the direction of developing sample spots (a), (b) and (c) is detected with a detector 1 to be inputted into a CPU 4 as absorbance data. The absorbance data is stored into a data memory of the CPU 4 at each batch of stroke together with a position signal from a drive motor 5 of a scanning mechanism. Then, the data is judged on whether it is the same in the peak or not for each stroke to be stored into a data table. After the scanning, the density of components of the sample spots is integrated for the same peak according to peak position. In this manner, a sharper peak can be obtained, thereby enabling accurate measurement of the density even for a presenting a smiling phenomenon.
