Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the time for enzyme reaction and to provide a biosensor of a short measurement time by constituting a layer formed by incorporating oxidation reduction enzyme into a water soluble high polymer on electrodes. CONSTITUTION:The layer 5 formed by incorporating the oxidation reduction enzyme into the water soluble high polymer is formed on the measuring electrode 2 and the counter electrode 3. A sample liquid, for example, blood is filtered by a filter membrane 7 through a porous body 8 contg. potassium ferricyanide and arrives at the above-mentioned oxidation reduction enzyme layer 5 when the sample liquid is dropped onto the porous body 8. Enzyme reaction is effected by the three; the glucose in the blood, the potassium ferricyanide dissolved from the inside of the porous body and the glucose oxidase of the oxidation reduction enzyme layer 5, by which the potassium ferrocyanide is generated. This potassium ferrocyanide is oxidized by the electrode systems 2, 3. The concn. of the glucose is measured by the oxidation current value.
