Abstract
PURPOSE:To attain white balance adjustment proper to the image pickup mode by providing a pickup mode setting means, a color temperature detection means, and a control means adjusting the white balance of a video signal based on the color temperature data and allowing the control means to fetch the setting output of the pickup mode setting means thereby applying white balance adjustment. CONSTITUTION:A color temperature detection section 34 detects a color temperature of a field and outputs a color temperature signal in response to the color temperature. Its color temperature signal 36 is outputted to a control section 16 via an A/D converter 56. The control section 16 reads the color temperature data representing a difference between R component light and B component light from the A/D converter 56 synchronously with the vertical synchronizing signal VD outputted from the synchronizing signal generating section 30, then applies control so that the period to revise the color temperature data D0 is different depending on the still mode and the movie mode. For example, in case of the still mode, the vertical synchronizing signal VD is revised four times for each output time T1=66.4msec and in the movie mode, the vertical synchronizing signal VD is revised for 60times for each output time T2=1sec.
