Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to improve the stability of discharge in the minimum system without increasing the capacity of a laser power supply by a method wherein each discharge length of a plurality of laser discharge tubes, whose inner diameters are different from one another, is set variably according to the above each inner diameter. CONSTITUTION:In a gas laser oscillator constituted of a plurality of laser discharge tubes 3-6, whose inner diameters d3-d6 are different from one another, each discharge length l3-l6 of the above tubes 3-6 is set variably according to the above each inner diameter d3-d6. For example of, in a case where a confocal resonator is constituted of a meniscus output mirror 1, a totally reflecting mirror 2 and the tubes 3-6, the two tubes 4 and 5 arranged on the inner side among the 4 tubes 3-6 constituting an optical resonator are made short their inner diameters d4-d5 and the two tubes 3 and 6, which are respectively arranged on the side of the mirror 1 and the side of the mirror 2, are made long their inner diameters d3-d6. Moreover, the discharge lengths l3-l6 of the tubes 3-6 are respectively set so as to be proportioned to each inner diameter d3-d6 and the discharge maintaining voltages of the tubes 3-6 are respectively set so as to become equal to one another.
