Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the electrical contact resistance of a steel wire for a spring and to improve the lubricity and rust preventing ability by forming a Zn layer on the steel wire by galvanizing and by plating the steel wire with Ni at optimum current density while the surface of the Zn layer is in an acidic wet state after activation treatment. CONSTITUTION:A patterned steel wire for a spring is galvanized to form a Zn layer and the steel wire is drawn and treated with an acidic activating bath. When the surface of the Zn layer is in an acidic wet state, the steel wire is introduced into an acidic Ni plating bath and plated with Ni at regulated optimum current density with >=95% current deficiency.
