Abstract

PURPOSE:To considerably reduce cost by filling a biological filter tank with an ammonia-based culture ground, inoculating nitrifying bacteria and feeding oxygen by aeration. CONSTITUTION:A water discharge valve 5 is closed and water is charged into a biological filter tank 1 through a water charge valve 4 until a filter medium 2 in the tank 1 is submerged. After the valve 4 is closed, salts are added to prepare a culture ground, nitrifying bacteria such as Nitromonas SP and Nitrobacter SP are inoculated and oxygen is fed by aeration. Thus, the bacteria can be self-matured in a short period.
