Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce D-aminoacylase in high efficiency without forming L- aminoacylase, by culturing a bacterial strain belonging to Alcaligenes genus and separating D-aminoacylase from the cultured product. CONSTITUTION:A bacterial stain belonging to Alcaligenes genus and capable of producing D-aminoacylase is cultured in a medium containing an inducing substance such as N-acetyl-DL-methionine and the objective D-aminoacylase is separated from the cultured product. A concrete example of the bacterial strain is Alcaligenes denitrificans subsp. xylosoxidans MI-4. The strain solely produces D-aminoacylase and does not produce L-aminoacylase and, accordingly, the strain is useful for the industrial production of D-aminoacylase.
