Abstract

PURPOSE:To discriminate correctly a recorded data field and an unrecorded data field by a simple circuit by comparing a reference voltage obtained through sampling and holding an envelope signal of a sector identifier with an envelope signal of the data field. CONSTITUTION:A DC component of a reproduction signal of an optical disk 1 having a sector structure and in which each sector consists of a sector identifier and the data field is eliminated by a high-pass filter 5 and an envelope signal is extracted by an envelope detection circuit 6. The envelope signal is given to a sample and hold circuit 11 via a DC amplitude adjusting circuit 10. The sample and hold circuit 11 receives the timing signal from a controller 9 to hold an envelope signal of a sector identifier, the holding voltage becomes a reference voltage of a comparator 8 and compared with the envelope signal being an output of the envelope detection circuit 6 and binarized. The binarized signal is used to distinguish whether or not recording is finished for the disk.
