Abstract

PURPOSE:To compress the capacity of a converting dictionary by storing an input heading word, a corresponding output word and output word converting information in a converting dictionary and sequentially the output word according to the output word changing information when the output word read correspondingly to an input character string is not an expected output word. CONSTITUTION:The output word changing information indicating the contents of the change of the output word in which a meaning is the same as grammatical information is stored together with an input heading word and the output word corresponding to the input heading word. A dictionary retrieving/control part 2 collates and retrieves between the input character string applied from an input device 1 and the input heading word of the converting dictionary 3, at the time of retrieving the input heading word coinciding with the input character string, the retrieved output word is outputted to an output device 5 through an output control part 4 and displayed. Further, when the retrieved output word is not the expected output word, position indicated by the position display areas 3c, 3e, 3g of a change display area to the same input heading word are referred to sequentially retrieve change contents areas 3d, 3f, 3h to change, substitute or delete the output word in an output heading table area 3b, supply to the output device through the output control part 4 and output the expected output word.
